Mass Effect Rebellion – Truth or False Rumour?

There have been reports (although it’s fair to say rather rumours) concerning a potential new DLC for Mass Effect 3.
As you would expect, it revolves around the game’s multiplayer.

The rather not well-known site “fronttowardsgamer” started spreading the rumour.
Here are the key informations (taken from fronttowardsgamer’s report):

“The “Rebellion” Multiplayer Expansion opens two new fronts against the Reapers: Firebase Jade’s jungle reservoir and Firebase Goddess on Thessia. In-game reinforcement packs now include three new weapons as well as equipment, consumables, and six new classes: Quarian Engineer and Infiltrator, Vorcha Soldier and Sentinel, Phoenix Adept and Vanguard.

  • Included are two new maps: “Firebase Jade’s” jungle reservoir & Firebase Goddess on Thessia
  • In-game reinforcements have three new weapons along with equipments/consumables
  • And the biggest surprise, 4 new classes: Vorcha Soldier & Sentinel, and Phoenix Adept & Vanguard”

Now, two new map and three new weapons sounds alright but the classes are what’s most interesting!

Vorcha Soldier and Vorcha Sentinel makes pretty much sense – while the Vorcha are not the brightest galactic cookies, they can adapt to each environment and if you remember Mass Effect 2, their regeneration abilities are quite awesome. It even makes sense lore-wise – at least if you’ve done your Mass Effect 3 homework and recruited Aria’s mercenaries …

Phoenix Adept and Phoenix Vanguard sound mysterious at first glance but it ain’t that hard to solve. Remember the DLC called From Ashes? Everyone’s bet is we might get to play some Prothean biotic warriors – including Dark Matter. This would be pretty awesome. But how on Eden Prime can Bioware explain the existence of a Prothean army? Wouldn’t it make more sense to create a singleplayer DLC for Mass Effect 3 where more Protheans awake from cryogenic slumber – and after beating the DLC, we get to play as Protheans in the multiplayer.

Quarian Engineer and Quarian Infiltrator … hang on a minute. They’re already in the fucking game, ain’t they? Maybe Bioware plans to introduce male Quarians into the multiplayer, who knows. Surely, just including male Quarians would be rather lame design decision …

Rabidgames ponders: Will there be a Rebellion? Hard to say right now … It’s a safe bet there will be more multiplayer DLC, and it’s quite likely we’ll see new races at some point. The chances for the classes above are 50/50 at best – who knows how this rumour started. But one thing is clear: Eventually, we want a Volus … a biotic god!!!

The Quarian Male Infiltrator is an absolute badass with his arc grenades. Also I’m rockin’ the Phoenix Adept and Vanguard. Nothing like charging into a group and double heavy meleeing everything.
The Krysae is kind of overpowered, as is the Reegar shotgun. Vorcha are fun to play as, but I hate playing with them. The majority that I have played with are too dependent on killstealing to keep their regeneration going fast. Love the new maps.
